laserjet pro m425dn
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, I have a m425dn that for about 2 months has been printing dirty (repeating prints of text from the same print or previous page). here is a sample of it

(this is a cleaning page print I just ran after the roller install)

I have changed the toner pack (80x) and today I have changed the roller

have wiped and air canned everything I can think of but I'm at a loss.

have played with density and heat settings - reset them to default after no effect.

any ideas?

Appreciate the time,

George

Your paper is "dirty" because toner is leaking onto the page at some point in the printing process.  Either the toner cartridge is defective, something is overcharging the paper, or there is a dirty roller somewhere.

Perform the halfway test:

I suspect this has something to do with a defective toner cartridge.  A quick and easy test would be to swap the current cartridge with another one and see if the problem goes away.  If its a bad cartridge then return it from where you purchased it and ask for replacement options.

Is the defect repeating down the page? If so, then likely the fuser has issues.

Completed the halfway test, the page actually looks perfect. so this means the fuser is the issue?

few more printouts attached showing the left side rundown - it seems to repeat the header on most pages only on the far left side of the page

Correct.

The problem is after the laser printer area and is most likely the fuser.  If you open up the fuser you may be able to see toner stuck to the fuser as it spins around.  This would confirm the problem.
