I had a similar problem setting up a M102w.  For whatever reason the printer and the Install wizard could not find my printer over the network.  What I ended up discovering is that I had previously done a plug and play install with the default WIn10 drivers for this printer.  Worked fine for a quick verification.  When i migrated to a network install the installer got all kinds of messed up.  I ended up uninstalling everything and resintalling from scratch to resolve the problem.

Give a full uninstall and reinstall with the latest software a try.  See if the software wizard can then find the printer on the network and proceed.  There shouldnt be a need to wait several minutes for network detection.  Either the printer is there or it isnt.

One other solution you can try is to install the HP Software for your M277dw and try to setup the wireless connection from the SW setup process.  Please share if any solutions posted so far have worked for you.

Hi Tom127,

Local printing requires mobile device and printer to be on the same wireless network or have a direct wireless connection.

Wireless performance is dependent on physical environment and distance from access point. For M277dw, Wireless operations are compatible with 2.4 GHz operations only. Wireless Capability: Built-in 802.11 b/g/n; Authentication via WEP, WPA/WPA2, or 802.11x; Encryption via AES or TKIP; WPS; Wi-Fi Direct; NFC

Please check the your wireless settings to see if it fulfil the requirements.
