mfp m476nw wont print in black and white on certain programs

UGH.  On some programs I have no problem printing in black and white....however, on other programs, no matter what I do in printer preferences, it still prints in color.  VERY aggrevated.

I've been through 3 HP printers in the last 4 years and am about ready to give up.  I currently also have an office jet pro 8600 that just won't print anymore (about 2 years old and says there's an issue with the ink jet system...replaced ink, replaced print head...no luck.....................usually on those it's the adf that breaks first on me, but not this one.  Heck, that printer refuses to print in just black ink (it will print just black and white, but still uses color ink, so if I print nothing but black and white for 6 months, I will stil have to replace color cartriges since it continues to use that ink for whatever reason, even when greyscale is selected as well as use black ink only).  

Anyway, my issue now is the mfp m476nw that refuses to print in black and white even when prefrences state black and white only.  Please help.....or, I guess I can go buy something other than an hp next time, because I'm really tired of printer issues.

Which programs print in color despite your setting the printer to Black and White?

It's when I print off of chrome.   I'm a Realtor and when I'm printing a listing sheet, it's always coming out in color.  It also gives me a different print panel compared to say when I'm in Microsoft office.   I also just printed a pdf from an email.  Stated to print in black and white and it came out mostly in black and white except for a few portions of the pdf still came in color (bizarre).   

Another thing that is odd is when I select black and white, the print preview then shows in black in white, but still prints in color.

Have you considered that maybe instead of a printer problem you have a chrome problem?

The pdf issue is kind of weird.

I think I would start by changing the printer default settings to black and white so that I would have to change it back to color when I wanted it.

It was doing the same thing in Explorer and firefox as well.   I think I have the issue corrected though.  I just uninstalled the printer and reinstalled it.  Seems to be working correctly now.  Thank you for your assistance.
