Im just setting up my printer for the first time and as I turn it on the green light remains flashing and doesnt do anything else. Please help

Kidnly mention the Printer Model Number.

How is the printer connected ( USB / Wireless )

Oh yes, sorry. Its a HP Deskjet F4180.

Its connected with USB

Hello RoQ,

Please perform the below steps..

 

  • Make sure the printer is ON.
  • Remove the cartridges.
  • Unplug the Power cable from the printer while it is ON
  • unplug the USB cable from the printer end.
  • Wait for 30- 40 seconds.
  • Plug in the Printer Power Cable.
  • When the Printer is ready, insert the cartridges and close the cartridge access door.
  • Connect the USB  cable to the printer.

Okay did everything step by step and the green light is still flashing and the ink cartridges is all the way to the left of  the printer.

Please try making a COPY ( color ) .

It doesnt do anything. I followed the directions and it should have printed an alignment page but it never did. also the ink cartridges was supposed to move to the middle so I can insert the cartridge and that didnt happen either.

Please try moving the Carriage Manually and then insert the cartridges.

That i did do, I was just letting you know just in case maybe something else was wrong. Do you think my printer can be old. It was a gift that i received in 2008 and never opened it unitl now.
