Hello,

I have reviewed the following documentation:
https://docs.poly.com/fr-FR/bundle/poly-studio-rest-api-current/page/c-before-you-begin.html

This documentation describes the REST API for Poly devices, and the Poly G7500 codecs are explicitly covered. However, I am currently unable to retrieve the required information via the API.

I attempted to perform tests on the /rest/audio endpoint, but I systematically receive an HTTP 301 (Moved Permanently) response.

Full error message:

<html>
<head><title>301 Moved Permanently</title></head>
<body>
<center><h1>301 Moved Permanently</h1></center>
<hr><center>nginx</center>
</body>
</html>

Test performed from a Windows client:

curl.exe -vk -u admin:admin http://192.168.1.1/rest/audio

It is possible that token-based authentication is required to query this endpoint, but I am not sure how to obtain or generate the authentication token.

Could you please advise on:

The correct authentication method for the Poly G7500 REST API (basic auth vs token-based auth)

Whether HTTPS is mandatory for REST API access

The proper way to access the /rest/audio endpoint without receiving a 301 response

Context / Use case
We are planning to migrate approximately 200 codecs to Zoom Rooms, and I would like to develop an automation script leveraging the Poly REST API to validate several key elements, including:

  • Internet connectivity
  • File sharing availability
  • Codec operational status
  • HDMI and network connectivity status
  • Zoom service availability and test status

Your guidance would be greatly appreciated, as this automation is a key part of our migration and validation strategy.

Thank you in advance for your support.
Best regards,

Hello @YvesMTE ,

Welcome to the HP Poly community.

From our Video FAQ:

  • May 19, 2020 Question: Does a Poly G7500, G62, or Studio X50/X30 support REST API?
    Resolution: Details on this can be found in the Poly VideoOS REST API Reference Guide >here< (or search the Support Page for the latest) or for instructions check >here<
    The latest "should " be always >here<
    NOTE: Please be aware that the community is not the official documentation source and is maintained by volunteers and enthusiasts and some of the below may not work or be supported in any other mode than Poly Provider Mode!

The above FAQ has examples on how to use the REST API

Best Regards
