How do I disable automatic firmware updates on a studio g62?  The new firmware updates (4.5.x) disables all usb functions on the device.  I have to manual roll back to 4.3.x EVERY MORNING.

This isn't viable when the conference room has meetings starting at 8am almost everyday.  I can't have the meeting room broken and down at 8am when the President of my university walks in to use it.

I have unchecked "enable automatic updates".  I have given it a fake update server.  It still auto updates every night.  Nothing that I have tried has prevented this auto update.

Hello @42bla ,

Welcome to the HP community.

Unfortunately, your post does not contain the currently Partner application version you use. For example Microsoft Teams, Zoom Rooms, Poly SIP/H.323 mode etc.

This is important, especially in the future, when someone finds this post in days, months, or years.

Please do not simply edit the original post but reply with the versions.

In the FAQ or the Read 1st section, we remind users why this is important.

Are you using Poly Lens to provision the Unit or did you use a Pin to connect the device to Poly Lens?

All of this is important information so us volunteers in this peer-2-peer community can try and help as this is not an official support community.

From my understanding placing a PoE+ power Injector to power the G62 instead of a PoE+ Switch should work around this.

The issue is understood and logged internally via PVENG-31376

If no other volunteers reply, I suggest you contact our Support organization in your region. Details are in my Signature.

Best regards

Steffen Baier

We are using Zoom Rooms.

We are not using Poly Lens as far as I know.  We have everything plugged directly into the g62 and used the web interface to configure everything.

Everything was working great until HP pushed the new firmware onto us.

I don't understand what you mean by this.  We  are using a POE+ swtich to power the g62.  What would be fixed by using a power injector?

Hello @42bla

as stated, as a workaround use a PoE+ Injector between the switch and the G62. You can then run PolyOs 4.5.0 or 4.5.1

If you never used Poly Lens or onboarded via PIN I can only assume Zoom is pushing this upgrade.

As this is not a support forum please open a support ticket as mentioned and mention the bug and an engineer can look at your logs and confirm this is the same issue and then provide an ETA for a fix.

For now you can either:

  • use the PoE + Injector workaround
  • investigate if Zoom is set to Auto Update

Best Regards

I guess I'm confused, but trying to learn.

How/why would zoom push hardware firmware updates to a hp/poly system?

Hello @42bla ,

again, I do not know who updates your system as I have not seen the logs. I cannot look at the logs via this Peer-2-Peer forum.

Our Partner Zoom, just like Microsoft and other can not only upgrade their relevant applications on both the device and the touch panel but also update the device firmware itself.

I have no idea how configures your Zoom account but have a look here: Upgrading or downgrading Zoom Rooms

As mentioned already, I suggest you contact our Support organization in your region. Details are in my Signature.

For now you have a workaround using a PoE+ Injector between the switch and the unit. You can start your investigation afterwards using the details I provided.

Best Regards
