Microsoft Windows 11

Hi all,

I would like to connect the Poly x50 in Device Mode to 2 different PCs. To do this, could I do it by putting a splitter in the USB-C connector that makes the camera, sound and microphone signal can be used by the two PCs? Logically, it would not be so that both would work at the same time, but rather so as not to have to connect and disconnect the X50 to each PC every time I wanted to use one or the other.

I suppose that the 2 USB-A ports available on the X50 are not to connect the camera, sound and microphone to a PC, but to enable a keyboard, mouse or flash memory, right?

Thanks in advance

Hello @PanzaCapital ,

welcome to the HP Poly community.

To my own personal knowledge, this would not be a supported scenario. USB Hubs are not supported. Other Volunteers may reply as well.

For follow up questions I suggest you contact our Support organization or Poly Sales or a Poly Reseller in your region. Details are in my Signature.

Best Regards

Why not try using a USB switch? Like eg. ATEN US3324

It has 4 "input" USB ports for your peripherals and 2 "outputs" for connecting you computers. So you could easily switch your Studio X50 between laptops/PCs.

On X50 side you can only use USB-C port to connect it to you PC (or USB switch mentioned before). USB-A ports are used to connect devices to and only to Studio X (like additional camera, audio system or storage). Those will not be visible on your PC, when using Device mode on Studio X50. There is no let's call it "USB peripheral pass-through" 😉

I hope that my explanation is not too complicated.

Hi LK_ENP. Thanks for the idea and clarification about the USB-A ports on the X50. I will check if I could attach a switch of the type you indicate, hiding it behind the X50, and if so, I would do the test you talk about. Thanks again
