Polycom RealPresence Group 500
macOS 12.0 Monterey

Recently bought a Polycom video conference PTV camera for a church. We have been trying to find the software to get it recogized on a Macbook Pro but we cannot find a solution. How can we use it when broadcasting services during zoom. We are new to polycom. What is needed, any licenses, registrations, connections, cables, etc. Explain it to me like im 5 years old (Michael Scott-The Office). I tried looking for videos on youtube for help but found nothing that will show from unpackaging, software install, to using it. Do i have to use the ethernet cable and call it in? What would i need for that..... I NEED HELP!

Hello @jen90rey ,

Welcome to the HP Poly community.

The Poly RealPresence GroupSeries system is a dedicated system for the Video Conference standard using either H.323 or SIP.

With this system, there is no way of connecting this directly to a PC or Mac and using it as a Camera for Applications like Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

There are interop partners that provide a service that you can use with a GroupSeries System to dial into these and others.

I suggest you search for a Poly reseller that can assist you in setting up the System. Alternatively, I believe our Partner Zoom should have instructions on how to dial into Zoom using a GroupSeries. Zoom Support should be able to assist you with their Service.

I am unsure if PTV is a type as the GroupSeries can connect to a PTZ camera but if not we cannot help you with the 3rd party PTV system and you would need to contact the manufacturer.

If you mean the PTZ camera there is no way, to my knowledge, to use this as a USB camera.

Best Regards

Steffen Baier
