I had polycom PVX installed on a laptop and I had problem with audio that stops working during a call. I installed the new version that polycom told me it will be better and supported. After installing it I am able to make videoconference call between 2 laptop that has real presence desktop, but When I want to connect to one of our sony pcs-xg80, I am able to connect to it (it takes a while) then when it is connected, both side can hear each other, but the sony pcs doesn't receive the video it stays gray at the screen. When I check on the laptop that has realpresence desktop I can see what the PCS-XG80 camera sees. Also on the laptop I see what my webcam should be showing to the Sony PCS-XG80.

any idea of what can cause that ?

when I contacted the tech support from polycom they told me that they can't help me wihout a CMA. but before buying cma I want to make sure that the software is working in my environnement first !!

thank you

Connect to the sony ip address

Click on the setup tab

Click on the left on IP Communication

Select ON for the individual setting for transmission/reception

Click on the SAVE button

Now the sony will be able to change its transmission reception mode. (my error was that I made changes in the ip communication mode but because this option wasn’t enable the test were not correct) The bad thing is that sony is unable to connect with real presence desktop in more then CIF resolution but it was the same problem with polycom PVX. I’m awaiting from sony support about the CIF resolution. Could it be a marketing restriction from polycom to do that because it is not connecting to a polycom equipment…

The last thing I need to test is if after setting ON the individual setting for transmission /reception the sony is able to connect with the other sony videoconference… and in which resolution.

Good thing is that now it works.

Precious help from Jean Tremblay from CEV Montreal. unfortunately, polycom never wanted to help me because I haven't purchase the software. did you ever bought a car without trying it and without knowing that it will be the one usefull for you ? I guess POlycom had a job to do. unfortunately I will try to find another software from another company just because of that.

Hello Jean-Pierre,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

The support for the RPD or other products that are not connected to any Polycom infrastructure is usually provided by Polycom Sales Engineers, Polycom reseller or within this community.

We usually have certain restrictions and these are normally listed within the release notes.

The RPD is a completely different Software than PVX so it may use different ports for the video/audio requiring changes to your firewall.

As you stated that you are currently liaising with Sony as well it would be good to provide some feedback.

Please ensure to provide some additional feedback to follow up on the above.

Best Regards

Steffen Baier
