I hate to keep harping on this but I'm back to square one again. I can't print in color. I've completely reinstalled the printer, run the print file, says it's OK but it's not. Along with not printing in color it won't wake up. I had to reinstall it again to get it to print. It's on a Network. I'm at my wits end with this. It's been a perfect printer for years. 😞

Hi,
hmmmm... That's a tough one. 🤔
Please run the HP Print and Scan Doctor once again. Does the tool displays any warnings / issues?
Cheers!
Nils

I've run it multiple times. It says it has printing issues and I say fix and it says fixed so I try to print in color and it prints black and white. I shut off the printer and back on and try again - same outcome. Even the test page comes out in black and white at the end of the print file. If I do a test print page just from the printer it's in color. Something between my computer and the printer. Windows 10 Pro is a completely new install on a new SSD drive since all this trouble began.

Hi,
We now try another approach. Try to install an alternative printing driver. To do so, follow these steps:
0. go to the Control Panel --> hardware and sound --> devices and printers.
1. Click once with the left mouse button on your printer and then with the right mouse button.
2. Select "Printer properties" in the menu.
3. A popup opens. Switch to the "Ports" tab.
4. Search for your printer in the list and remember the port of your printer (e.g. WSD, LPT, ... )*.
5. Now, go to "devices and printers" in the control panel and click "Add printer" at the top.
6. go in the new window below to "The desired printer is not included in the list".
7. Select "Add local printer or network printer with manual settings" in the new selection and click "Next".
8. Set the item "Use existing port" in the new dialog and select the port of your printer in the combo box. Click "Next".
9. Now search for the HP Officejet Pro K550 Series printer in the list and click "Next". If the printer is not listed, click Windows Update.
10. The printer will now be installed. Print a self-test page.
11. Open any document and try to print it using the newly installed driver.
* If this steps doesn't help to resolve the situation, please tell me the port.
Cheers!
Nils

Sorry I didn't get in here sooner but I solved the problem late last night by using the HP Envy 7640 driver and it all seems to be working OK again. Looks like this is what you were having me do only using another driver. I have always had an HP printer but this is the second time they made a major mistake with one of my printers. Time to look at others out there. 😞 Thanks again for all your help. 🙂
