My Photosmart 5520 has stopped AirPrint but still shows on my phone OK. It still prints out the Printer Status Report. Any advice?

If your HP Photosmart 5520 is showing up on your iPhone but not printing via AirPrint, while still printing a Printer Status Report, it suggests a network or AirPrint service issue, not a hardware failure.

Here’s how to troubleshoot it:

1. Restart Everything

  • Power cycle your printer, iPhone, and Wi-Fi router.
  • Wait 30 seconds before turning them back on.


2. Check Wi-Fi Connection

  • Make sure your printer and iPhone are on the same Wi-Fi network (not a guest network).
  • Print a Network Configuration Page from the printer to confirm.


3. Check AirPrint Status

  • On your iPhone, go to Settings > Wi-Fi and tap the “i” next to your network.
  • Ensure Private Wi-Fi Address is off (some routers block AirPrint with this on).
  • Try printing again from Safari or Mail (AirPrint works best from native apps).


4. Update Firmware


5. Reset Network Settings on Printer

  • On the printer, go to Setup > Wireless > Restore Network Defaults.
  • Reconnect to Wi-Fi and try AirPrint again.
