Hi @Collin17,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

If your HP ENVY 5530 printer prints photos from the internet on plain paper but not on photo paper, the issue could be related to the printer settings, paper type selection, or print driver configuration. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve this problem:

Check Paper Settings in the Print Dialog:

  • When printing photos, make sure to select the correct paper type in the print settings.
  • Go to the print dialog box from your browser or application, and under Paper Type/Quality, select Photo Paper or the specific type of photo paper you are using.
  • Ensure the paper size matches the photo paper loaded in the printer, such as 4x6 inches or 5x7 inches.

Adjust Print Quality Settings:

  • In the print dialog, set the print quality to Best or Photo for optimal results on photo paper.
  • Avoid using the Draft mode, as it is intended for faster, lower-quality prints and may not work well with photo paper.

Check Printer Tray and Paper Handling:

  • Make sure that the photo paper is loaded correctly in the printer’s photo paper tray. It should be aligned properly and the paper guides should be snug but not too tight.
  • If the printer has a separate photo paper tray, ensure the correct tray is selected in the print settings.

Verify Printer Preferences in the HP Software:

  • Open the HP Printer Assistant software on your computer.
  • Go to Printer Settings > Printing Preferences, and ensure the correct paper type and print quality settings are selected for photo printing.
  • Save these settings as default if they are correct.

Update Printer Driver:

  • Ensure you have the latest printer driver installed for your HP ENVY 5530. Visit the HP Support website and download the latest driver for your printer model and operating system.
  • After updating the driver, restart your computer and try printing a photo again.

Please find the remaining steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @Collin17 ,

Please find the remaining steps below.

Print from Another Application:

  • Sometimes, browser-specific issues can affect print jobs. Try printing the photo from another application, such as Microsoft Photos, Windows Photo Viewer, or a dedicated photo editing software.

Clean the Print Heads and Align the Printer:

  • Use the HP Printer Assistant or printer’s control panel to clean the print heads and align the printer. This can improve print quality, especially when switching between different paper types.

Test with a Different Photo Paper:

  • If available, try using a different brand or type of photo paper that is compatible with your printer.
  • Check that the photo paper is not curled, damp, or damaged, as these factors can prevent the printer from properly feeding the paper.

Check for Printer Firmware Updates:

  • Go to the HP Support website and check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP ENVY 5530. Firmware updates can resolve specific issues related to paper handling and printing.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for 60 seconds, plug it back in, and turn the printer on. This can sometimes clear minor glitches.

If the problem persists after trying these steps, it may be beneficial to test printing from a different computer or device to rule out any software-specific issues like OS compatibility.

If the printer continues to have difficulty printing on photo paper, contact HP support for further assistance.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
