Hi @Jon805

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

Ah, sounds like you're almost there! If your ePrint is enabled but you're still having trouble printing remotely, it could be a couple of things. Here’s what I’d suggest:

Check Printer’s Connection: Make sure the printer is connected to the internet. ePrint requires a stable connection to the web to work properly. If your printer is on a Wi-Fi network, try restarting both the printer and your router to refresh the connection.

Update HP Smart App: Sometimes the app just needs a little refresh itself! Check if there’s an update available for the HP Smart app. Outdated versions can cause connectivity issues.

Check Email Settings: ePrint uses an email address for printing. Make sure the email address you’re using to send the document to your printer is correct. Also, check your spam folder in case the email didn’t get through.

Printer Firmware: Is your printer’s firmware up to date? Sometimes a firmware update can fix any remote printing issues. You can usually check this via the printer's control panel or through the HP Smart app.

ePrint Setup: Double-check that ePrint is still enabled on your printer. Sometimes settings can get reset or disabled, especially after a reboot.

Wi-Fi Network and VPN: If you're on a different network or using a VPN on your phone, it could interfere with the connection. Make sure your phone is connected to a reliable mobile or Wi-Fi network that allows ePrint to communicate properly with your printer.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi @Jon805

Let’s walk through some troubleshooting steps that may help you resolve this.

1. Ensure the Printer is Set Up Correctly in macOS

  • First, make sure that your HP Color LaserJet MFP M283cdw is properly added as a printer in macOS, not just recognized by HP Smart.

Steps:

  1. Go to System Preferences on your Mac.
  2. Click on Printers & Scanners.
  3. Check the list of printers. If your HP Color LaserJet MFP M283cdw is not listed, you'll need to add it manually.
  4. Click the "+" button to add a new printer.
  5. Select your printer from the list of available printers. If it's connected via Wi-Fi or Ethernet, it should appear under "Nearby Printers" or "Network Printers."
  6. If the printer is not showing up, check if the printer is on the same Wi-Fi network as your Mac.

If your printer still isn't appearing here, proceed to the next steps.

2. Ensure Printer is on the Same Network.

3. Install/Update Printer Drivers on macOS , Click here

4. Check Printer Configuration in HP Smart

  1. Open the HP Smart app on your Mac.
  2. Make sure that the HP Color LaserJet MFP M283cdw is listed and marked as ready.
  3. Try removing and then re-adding the printer in the HP Smart app. To do this, click the three dots next to the printer’s name in the HP Smart app, and select Remove Printer. Then add the printer back by selecting the "+" button.

5. Use AirPrint (if available)

  1. Open a document or image you’d like to print.
  2. In the application, go to File > Print.
  3. In the Printer selection dropdown, look for your HP Color LaserJet MFP M283cdw. If it supports AirPrint, it should show up here.

If AirPrint is available, your printer will be able to print wirelessly even if the printer isn't appearing in the Printers & Scanners list.

6. Reset the Printing System on macOS

  1. Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  2. Right-click (or Control-click) anywhere in the printer list on the left and select Reset Printing System.
  3. This will remove all printers and reset the print queue, but don’t worry—after resetting, you can add the printer again.
  4. Once reset, click the "+" button to add the HP Color LaserJet MFP M283cdw printer back to the list.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
