Hi @Pandagirl1 ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're encountering issues with the HP Smart app and it's saying the PIN is invalid when setting up your HP Deskjet 4175e,
Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:
- Check the PIN: Make sure you're entering the correct PIN. Sometimes, the PIN might be printed on a label attached to your printer or provided in the printer's documentation. Double-check to ensure you're entering the correct characters.
- Restart the Printer: Turn off your printer, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues.
- Restart the App: Close the HP Smart app completely and reopen it. This can help refresh the app and resolve any temporary glitches.
- Check Network Connection: Ensure that your smartphone or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi network that your printer is connected to. If your device is on a different network, it won't be able to communicate with the printer.
- Update the App: Make sure you have the latest version of the HP Smart app installed on your device. If not, update it from the Google Play Store (for Android) or the App Store (for iOS).
- Update Printer Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Updating the printer's firmware can sometimes resolve compatibility issues with the app. Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Reset Printer Network Settings: You can try resetting the network settings on your printer and then reconnecting it to your Wi-Fi network. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to do this.
