HP ENVY 5052
macOS 10.13 High Sierra

Hello, I have a HP ENVY 5052. It is successfully connected to the wifi and Wi-Fi Direct as well as ePrint. My laptop is connected to the same internet as the printer.

However, I cannot print to the printer without ePrinting. I tried to use the HP Easy Start application but it says my printer is not found. I tried to find my printer via settings and "Add Printer", but alas the same thing. My printer is not found. I also tried Wi-Fi Direct, but my computer will not connect to that network.

I printed a Network Configuration Page and under general information, "Internet" it says Not Connected. However under Wireless it does say Connected.

How can I get my computer to recognize my printer?

Thank you for posting on HP Forums,

Riddle_Decipher, is at your service (Like a Genie, however, without magic powers) 😉

As I understand the Airprint / Wireless printing isn't working anymore,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Did you attempt to add the printer as Airprint rather than your printer model?

While you respond to that, here's what you need to do:

Check the printing requirements:

Make sure your printer and Apple iOS device meet the following requirements to print with AirPrint.

  • iOS 4.2 or later running on the Apple iOS device

  • An HP printer that supports AirPrint

HP wireless printers released in 2010 and later support AirPrint. For detailed information about which HP printers support AirPrint, go to Mobile Printing Solutions Compatible with HP Printers.

  • A connection to the printer

Your printer and the Apple iOS device must be on the same local network or your printer must support Wi-Fi Direct or HP wireless direct.

Try to print. If a No AirPrint printers found message displays, continue to the next step to connect the printer.

  1. Make sure your Mac is connected to the Internet.

  2. In the Printers list, click your HP printer, and then click the Minus button  to delete it.

  3. Click the Add button .

  4. Find and select the name of your printer from the Printer list, and then click Add to add your printer. Do not select an HP Fax driver.

       NOTE:

If your printer does not display in the list, make sure the printer is connected, turned on, has power, and is ready to print.

Figure : Example of the printer selection list

Image: The Add window showing a selection of printers with one model selected.
  5. Click Print Using or Use.

  6. Select AirPrint.

Figure : Menu showing AirPrint selected

    Image: Menu showing AirPrint selected

Your new printer queue displays in the Printers list in an Idle status .

Figure : Example of a newly added printer in the Printers & Scanners list

Image: The printers and scanners windows with one printer in the printers list
  7. Try printing again.

    • If the printer prints, you can stop troubleshooting.

    • If the printer remains offline or displays an error, continue to the next step.

Hello,

No it did not because as I said it does not show up AT ALL in the add a printer screen HOWEVER it is saying that the printer is connected to home wifi network and the computer is also connected to the home wifi network. So something is happening. Also I am unable to use HP Easy Start because it cannot find the printer. I have reset the router, reset the printer, restarted the computer. After all that the printer is still not found.

It looks like you were interacting with Riddle_Decipher, but he is out for the day & I'll be glad to help you out. I'm KrazyToad & I'm at your service.

I suggest you Reset the Printer Network Settings to Default and also restart your Router and computer

1. From the Home screen, touch (Wireless) and then touch ( Settings ).

2. Touch Restore Network Settings, and then follow the onscreen instructions.

3. Print the network configuration page and verify that the network settings have been reset.

Then use the Wireless Setup Wizard from the printer control panel display to set up wireless communication.

1. On the printer control panel display, from the Home screen, touch ( Wireless ).

2. Touch ( Settings ).

3. Touch Wireless Setup Wizard or Wi-Fi Protected Setup.

4. Follow the display instructions to complete the setup

Once the Printer is connected to your Network, then Add the Printer to to Mac printing Queue and use Airprint

  1. Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.

Figure : Example of the Printers & Scanners window

Example of the Printers & Scanners window
  2. Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, and then do one of the following steps.

    • If your printer is listed, remove and re-add the printer to confirm it is set up for AirPrint. Click the printer name, click the minus sign to delete the printer, click the plus sign , click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name and then continue to the next step.

    • If your printer is not listed, click the plus sign, click Add Printer or Scanner, click the name of your printer, and then continue to the next step.

  3. Confirm AirPrint or Secure AirPrint displays in the Use or Print Using menu, and then click Add.

Figure : AirPrint displays in the Use menu

Select AirPrint from the Use menu
  4. Open a document or photo, click File, and then click Print.

Keep me posted how it goes

Thank you 🙂

As you can see above- the printer never shows up. I reset network settings on the printer and reconnected it back to the wifi, reset my computer and router and it still will not show up. What do I do? It shows on the printer that it is successfully connected to the internet.

Please check and ensure that your Mac device is up to date

Then we will Reset the Printing System. Resetting the printing system removes all printers and scanners from the printers queue and clears all print jobs and print settings from the system, including printers and scanners that are not from HP.

  1. Click the Apple menu, and then click System Preferences.

  2. Click Printers & Scanners, Print & Scan, or Print & Fax.

  3. Right-click (or Control + click) anywhere inside the Printers window, and then click Reset printing system.

Figure : Clicking Reset printing system

    Image: Click Reset printing system
  4. Click Reset or OK.

  5. If prompted, type your username and password, and then click OK.

    The printing system resets.

  6. Turn off the printer, wait 5 seconds, and then turn on the printer.

  7. Wait until the printer is idle and silent.

  8. In the Printers window on the Mac, click the Add button .

  9. Select your printer from the list, and then click Add.

It might take a few seconds before your printer displays in the Printers list.

Yes, I already tried that and it did not work. That is what my previous post had said and the picture of the printers list being blank. Any other ideas?
