I am able to print from my computer. However, I am having some problems when trying to add the printer into the HP Smart app. I currently have an OfficeJet Pro 6960 successfully installed, and used for about a year.
However, I just bought this laser printer 2 days ago. The Andriod HP Smart app could not detect this printer. Further, during the app's "+ add printer", it says "No Printers Found in Setup Mode". I clicked on "My printer is not listed" - "Select your printer" BUT could not find "Laserjet xxx" in the list.
I checked the HP Support web page, " mobile printing / compatible list" and it shows that the Laserjet Pro MFP 130fw is compatible. It will be greatly appreciated if someone has any further tip that I could try out.

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂 I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.
Try uninstalling and reinstalling the HP Smart App.
If the issue still persists, restore the Printer and the phone to defaults:
Printer:
On the printer control panel, open the Setup menu. 2. Open the Service menu. 3. Select Restore Defaults. The printer automatically restarts.
Phone:
- Go to Settings.
- Go to Backup & reset.
- Now tap on the “Network settings reset” option.
- Hit the “Reset Settings” button.
- You will be given another warning, hit the “Reset Settings” button again.
Let me know if this helps.
If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the Accepted Solution and Kudos buttons, that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Hi Betty,
I did all the above as suggested BUT did not do the reset for the phone network, as under that Backup and Reset, there is only the "factory reset" option. But I did change the network from the 2.4 to 5 GHz and vice versa.
The mobile phone (Asus) now managed to display the Wi-Fi Direct at the network available, after I did the "Restore Defaults". Previously, it was not visible.
Unfortunately, a minute later this Wi-Fi Direct disappeared completely. At this point, I am only able to see the Wi-Fi Direct for the Officejet Pro 6960.
The HP Smart app still is not able to detect; it is also not showing any "LaserJet xxx" printer list under its selection.
Regards,
Walter Loo

Hi @Walter_Loo, I am the Mr.Robot. It looks like you were interacting with @Betty0610, but he is out of the office today, so I'll take over from here.
I appreciate your efforts for writing back to us.
Are your printer and the smartphone connected to the same wireless network?
As you mentioned you still have issues connecting the printer to the network using HP smart app.
Use the Wireless Setup Wizard on the control panel to connect the printer to your local network. Once connected, add the printer to the HP Smart app.
-
From the home screen, touch the Wireless icon
, and then touch the Settings icon
.
-
Touch Wireless Setup Wizard.
-
Select your network from the list of available networks.
-
If the list does not contain your network name, touch Enter New Network Name, and then follow the instructions to enter your network name. Type the exact network name, including any uppercase and lowercase letters.
-
Type the WEP or WPA key (network password), and then touch Done. The blue wireless light on the control panel turns on confirming a successful connection.
NOTE:
Go to Find the Wireless Network WEP or WPA Key or Password if you do not know your local network password.
-
Return to the HP Smart app on your Android device, tap the plus sign
, and then select your printer to add it to the app.
If the printer fails to connect to the local wireless network, print a Wireless Network Test Report for assistance.

If you still have issues try resetting the network settings on your smartphone and connect the printer to the network again using HP smart app.

Thank you, Mr Robot.
The printer has no problem subscribing itself to the network wirelessly. In fact, all our Windows 10 laptops and PC are able to send print jobs to this LaserJet MFP Pro 130fw printer, wirelessly.
However, on the mobile side (Android), the situation is not good.
First of all, the HP Smart is unable to detect this 130fw printer, and it's "add printer" selection list does not contain any 'LaserJet' printer for selection. Therefore. We can't scan or print directly from the HP Smart app.
I noticed some other APPs like GMail, allow printing of its email directly to the 130fw printer, however we can't print the mail's PDF attachment. Using the same mode, we CAN print emails and PDF attachment (on the same mobile) on the HP OfficeJet 6960 (which we have been using since a year ago).
As a result, I checked on the HP Smart app, and found that it could not detect the HP LaserJet Pro MFP 130fw but could easily detect the HP OfficeJet 6960.
I have uninstalled/installed the HP Smart app and the Print Service Plug-in. I have also reset the network service on the 130fw printer. Each time I was briefly able to see the Wi-Fi-direct of the 130fw printer. However, after a short while the WiFi-Direct of the 130fw will disappear, leaving only the OfficeJet 6960 appearing on the available networks.
