HP ENVY 5530 e-All-in-One Printer series
Android 8 Oreo

Borderless 4x6 photos no longer print properly (there is a border) using the hp printer driver for Android, perhaps since the mid-year firmware update. Instead, I have to use the built-in printer driver. This is a nuisance because the HP Smart app can no longer print borderless photos, and Android Photos will only print one photo at a time. The HP driver's "use Android rendering" option makes no difference.

@spamalot

Thank you for posting on HP Forums,

Flower_Bud is at your service.

As I understand, your printer does not print borderless photos,

No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:

Have you turned on Borderless printing?

What is the Scaling settings set to, in HP Smart app?

Let's try these steps to resolve the issue:

Go to HP Smart App > Select the photo to print > Select More options > Under Photo tab, enable borderless printing.

If the issue persists, try these steps:

  • Update Android device
  • Uninstall and reinstall HP Smart app
  • Uninstall and reinstall HP Print Service Plugin

If the issue still continues, Clear the Android OS Print Spooler cache

Sometimes resetting and clearing the Android OS Print Spooler cache can resolve the issue.

  1. On your Android device, tap the Settings icon , and the select Apps or Applications.

  2. Select Show System Apps.

  3. Scroll down the list, and then select Print Spooler.

Depending on your Android device, tap Storage, and then select Print Spooler.

  4. Select Clear Cache and Clear Data.

  5. Open the item you want to print, tap the menu icon , and then tap Print.

    A print preview screen displays.

  6. Next to Select a printer, tap the down arrow to view the printer list, and then select your printer.

Let me know,

Cheers!
