When I downloaded the HP Smart app, it started to walk me through the steps but it got stuck on the screen that said "collecting printer's info" or something like that- it said that for over 2 hours so I did a force quit and started over- now the app wont open at all and I need to force quit every time- suggestions appreciated

I would start by deleting all the settings for HP Smart and setting it up again.

Did you originally download the HP Smart app from the Mac App Store or from HP.com?

If you installed it from hp.com then you can delete /Users/username/Library/Application Support/HP Smart.

Then delete the app in the Applications folder and download HP Smart from Mac App Store.

If you downloaded it from the app store you can basically reset it back to zero by deleting:

/Users/username/Library/Containers/com.hp.SmartMac

Then relaunch the app from the Applications folder and go through setup again.

While I may work for HP Inc, the views and opinions expressed here are my own.

Thank you! I did delete it and downloaded it from the mac store, and it's still happening. It just spins and I have to force quit every time. Could it be that I haven't updated to Catalina?
