HP Officejet Pro 8710
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I have already installed  HP ePrint on my iPad & iPhone and created an email address for my printer (HP Officejet Pro 8710).

i now see that HP ePrint will become inactive after May 2017, so my question is: Will HP AIO Remote replace the email capability of HP ePrint? In other words, will the present printer's email address still be functional from anywhere where there is wireless connectivity?

Any help would be appreciated!

Mark

Hi Mark,

The HP ePrint service remain available and allow printing by sending an email to the printer's email address, that do not change in any way.

It only the HP ePrint app which gonna retire, meaning adding the ePrint address to the app will no longer be an avaialble feature..

Printing through the local network remain available via HP AIO Remote or via Apple's AirPrint, printing from a remote location remain available by sending an email to the printer, those do not change in any way...

Hi,

You can use your printer email address from anywhere in the world. You can send to its email address any supported formats and it will print.

I can't work out why "i now see that HP ePrint will become inactive after May 2017". Will you dispose your printer ? If yes, I think you need to delete your printer from your HP Connected acount and no one can use it.

Regards.

Hi,

The HP AIO Remote provide print and scan capabilities through the local network, it do not provide any remote print capabilities as the HP ePrint app does.

Once the HP ePrint app for iOS will retire at May this year you will be able to use the app to print over the same local network, to print from a remote location you will need to email your content using the HP ePrint address, such capability will not be offered by an app any longer.

Shlomi

Hi banhien,

Thank you for your reply.

I have had a few messages when using HP ePrint saying that it will be retired at the end of May 2017 and that is why I am asking whether or not HP AIO Remote will allow me to send an email to the printer's address and automatically print it at once.

And, no, I am not planning to dispose of my printer...

Hi Shlomit,

Thank you for your reply.

If I am understanding you correctly, HP AIO Remote will still automatically print any email that is received by the printer's email address even after HP ePrint has been retired. And I assume that the people, to whom I have given that address, will still be able to use it to print their emails on my printer.

So, as far as I can tell, you are saying that HP ePrint is/was able to print from, say, an iPhone or iPad that was not on the local wireless network. I was not aware it could do that.

Thank you, Shlomil!

That explains it perfectly.

But do I have to add the ePrint address to HP AIO Remote? Or is that automatic, even if I remove the HP ePrint app from my mobile devices?

Mark

Hi Shlomil,

Please ignore my last posting, as I have found the answer in the link you sent:-

"If your printer is already setup and connected to a wireless network, the app automatically selects your printer. If the app does not find your printer, you can select your printer manually..."

Thank you for your help!

Regards,

Mark
