Hi @Terri1920,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding connecting yor HP Laser Jet P1102w to my apple I pad with USB cable!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Unfortunately, you cannot directly connect your HP LaserJet P1102w to an iPad using a USB cable because iPads do not support direct USB printing like a computer does. However, there are alternative ways to print from your iPad to this printer:
1. Use AirPrint (Recommended)
If your HP LaserJet P1102w is connected to Wi-Fi, you can print directly from your iPad using Apple AirPrint:
- Ensure your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your iPad.
- Open the document or photo on your iPad.
- Tap the Share icon (box with an arrow pointing up).
- Select Print and choose the HP LaserJet P1102w.
- Tap Print.
Note: If your printer doesn’t support AirPrint, you may need to update its firmware.
2. Use the HP Smart App
- Download the HP Smart App from the App Store.
- Connect your printer and iPad to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Open the app and follow the instructions to add your printer.
- Use the app to print documents or photos.
3. Use a USB Workaround with a Mac/PC
If you must use a USB cable, you would need a computer:
- Connect your printer to a Mac or PC via USB.
- Enable printer sharing on your computer.
- Print from the iPad using AirPrint or HP Smart App while the computer acts as a bridge.
