HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 All-in-One Printer

ISSUE:  I come across something that I wish to send to my home printer to print while I am on the road.

How is this possible?

FACT: My printer is connected to my home WIFI.

I have set my printer up as an email recipient and send emails to it with items to print.  That does not always work.

I am not sure if I selected the appropriate "category"

Hi @Jeanjie,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Yes, you can print to your home printer while you are out on the road, provided that your printer is connected to your home Wi-Fi network and you have set it up for remote printing capabilities. Here are some methods you can use to achieve this:

1. Google Cloud Print (if supported by your printer)

Google Cloud Print allows you to print to your home printer from anywhere using your Google account and the Cloud Print service. Here’s how to set it up if your printer supports it:

Check Printer Compatibility: Verify if your printer supports Google Cloud Print. This can usually be found in the printer’s settings or documentation.

Set up Google Cloud Print:

  • Open Google Chrome on a computer that’s connected to the same network as your printer.
  • Go to Chrome Settings > Advanced > Printing > Google Cloud Print > Manage Cloud Print devices.
  • Add your printer to Google Cloud Print.

Print from Anywhere:

  • While on the road, you can use any device (like a smartphone or laptop) with internet access and Google Chrome to print to your home printer.
  • Simply select your home printer from the list of available printers when printing a document or webpage.

2. HP ePrint (if supported by your HP printer)

HP ePrint allows you to print to your HP printer from anywhere using the printer’s email address. Here’s how to set it up:

  • Set Up HP ePrint:
    • Register your printer with HP Connected to get its unique email address.
    • Send an email containing the document you want to print to your printer’s email address from any email-capable device.
  • Print from Anywhere:
    • As long as your printer is connected to the internet, it will receive the print job and print the document.

3. Remote Desktop Access

You can use remote desktop software like TeamViewer or Chrome Remote Desktop to access your home computer remotely. Once connected, you can print to your home printer as if you were physically there.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
