I can print fine in colour from my iMac but when I try to print from my iPad it automatically changes the preview of the document to black and white and will only print it in black and white. There is no option to change to colour.

@Charlotte44, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I see that you are not able to print in color from the iPad.

Which app are you using to print?

Are you using the HP Smart app or the AirPrint option?

Check for any software updates on the iOS device.

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your Mac.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Refer to this document to know how to print via AirPrint - HP printer setup (Apple AirPrint for iPhone, iPad)

You may also refer to - Color or Black Ink Not Printing

Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.

Hi

everything is up to date. There are no updates.
I can’t print in colour from the HP app or from any other app or directly from the internet through the share but like I used to be able to

@Charlotte44

Are you able to print in color from the Mac as you have mentioned in the subject line of this post?

Try making a standalone color copy from the flatbed glass and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

Also, perform the steps mentioned in this document - Color or Black Ink Not Printing

check the ink levels, clean the ink cartridges, and print a test page to check for color.

Let me know how it goes.

HI

Yes I can print in colour from my iMac so it is not a hardware or ink level issue.

@Charlotte44

If you have been using Apple AirPrint to print, use the HP Smart app not and check if that helps.

Download the app from the App Store.
