I cannot get the hp print service app on my android phone to connect through wifi direct to my printer from my android 9.0 device. I have tried with the hp smart app and by printing from my phones photos app. The hp print service is on in my android phone. The hp smart app can connect just fine to the printer, just the hp print service app cannot. I have tried restarting both the phone and the printer.

I do see a wifi (non Wifi Direct) printer showing up in the print service within my phone's settings, but I cannot remove it and I did not add it. I can add the Wifi Direct printer through my phones print service settings, but that doesn't help. I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the HP Print service app.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

Make sure printing is enabled and clear the print spooler:

1. On your Android device, tap Settings, tap Connected devices or Connections and then tap Printing.

2. Confirm HP Print Service is listed and the status is On. Tap Add service if the service is not listed to install it.

3. Return to the Settings, and then select Apps or Applications.

4.Select Show System Apps from the More menu.

5. Select Print Spooler, or tap Storage, and then select Print Spooler.

6.Tap Clear Data or Force Stop.

7. Restart the device.

Remove the printer from the HP Print Service Plugin:

1.Tap Settings, and then search for and open HP Print Service.

2. Tap the menu icon, tap Add printer, and then tap Manage printers.

3. Find the printer you want to edit or remove, and then press and hold the printer name until the Manage printers menu displays.

4..Tap Modify to edit the printer name or update the printer IP address, or tap Forget printer to remove the printer.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
