Hello,
Since a few days I notice that I cannot scan to a mail address directly from the printer.
I keep getting the message 'The printer cannot connect to Web Services. The server may be busy or temporarily unavailable. Please try again later'
This has always worked fine until last week.
Furthermore, the printer does everything as it should, printing and scanning works without problems. Printing to the mail address of the printer still works.
What I have tried in the meantime:
- Restarting the printer
- Internet settings reset
- the web serivces turned off and on through the web browser, but I get the same error.
The printer I have is an 'HP Officejet 5740'.
Is there a general problem with the Web server?
Regards,
Michael

Welcome to HP Support Community
I would like to help
Please ensure the printer has the latest Firmware https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_1776648-1643972-16
Also try assigning a manual IP address
- Print a Network Config Page from the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
- Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
- Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
- On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you do not know the range, change the last set of numbers (those after the last '.') to 250
- Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
- Enter your router's IP (on the Network Config Page) for the gateway.
- Enter 8.8.8.8 for the first DNS and 8.8.4.4 for the second DNS. This is Google DNS.
- Click 'Apply'.
Thank you

Hello,
Sorry for the late reply.
Both through the web page, the printer itself and the windows software, there is no firmware update available for the printer.
Current firmware: NPM5CN2022AR, build date: 2020-05-26.
I have set and tested a fixed IP address both via wifi and wired. (Tested separately) This gave no difference. The printer kept giving the message that it cannot connect to the 'web services' when I want to scan to an email address.
Now I have just removed and reset the 'webservices' via the webpage of the printer and this seemed to solve the problem.
Both printing to email and printing from email works again.
So the problem is solved!
Thanks for the help!
