Product: HP Deskjet 2541
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

I just recently purchased the HP Deskjet 2541 printer. I installed all the software and even did a software update. I am experiencing an error when I go to select the printer as my default one. It says that it cannot select it and to check the name and see if its connected. I did and ive connected it to my wireless network, along with even a USB. My computer isnt recognizing it. What can I do?

Welcome to the HP Community Forum.

 

Sounds odd.. :Crying:  I am sorry that happened.

 

Maybe this will help:

 

If you had a printer on the computer before, that is, a different printer model that was installed on your computer, you might check to make sure the printer software for that printer has been removed from Programs and Features.

 

If this is the case, the following might be useful:

 

Control Panel > set icon view > Programs and Features >

Scroll down, find the OLD Printer program > Right-Click on the program > Uninstall

 

Repeat these steps for each occurrence of your old printer's name until none remain in the list.

 

  • Restart / Reboot the computer and log in

 

After that, check to see if you can set your new printer to be the Default printer
