Hi, can anyone help please. My virgin Internet is down. meaning that my home wifi network that my HP5532 printer is connected to is not working. I want to be able to print  from my Mac and  iPhone to my HPEnvy 5532 printer via my mobile hotspot if that is possible? Does anyone know if it is possible and if so how please?

Hi @SteveyD1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Yes, you can connect your HP Envy 5532 printer to your mobile hotspot for printing from your Mac and iPhone. Here’s how you can do it:

Connect the Printer to Your Mobile Hotspot

Turn on Your Mobile Hotspot:

  • Activate the mobile hotspot on your smartphone and make sure it's discoverable.

Access the Printer's Control Panel:

  • On the HP Envy 5532, go to the control panel.

Navigate to Wireless Settings:

  • Select the Setup or Wireless menu. Look for an option like Wireless Setup Wizard.

Select Your Mobile Hotspot:

  • The printer will search for available networks. Select your mobile hotspot from the list.

Enter the Password:

  • When prompted, enter the password for your mobile hotspot.

Confirm Connection:

  • Wait for the printer to confirm that it is connected to the mobile hotspot.

Print from Your Mac and iPhone

From Your Mac:

Ensure Your Mac is Connected:

  • Connect your Mac to the same mobile hotspot.

Install Printer Drivers:

  • If necessary, go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners. Add your HP Envy 5532 if it’s not already listed.

Print:

  • Open the document you want to print, select Print, and choose your HP Envy 5532 as the printer.

From Your iPhone:

Ensure Your iPhone is Connected:

  • Connect your iPhone to the mobile hotspot.

Use AirPrint:

  • Open the document or image you want to print. Tap the Share icon (square with an arrow) and select Print.
  • Choose your HP Envy 5532 and tap Print.

Hi Rachel,

Thank you very much for your reply and I apologise for the delay in mine.

Unfortunately the solution did not work in that the printer was unable to connect to the hotspot on my phone despite having found it when scanning for networks. I have printed off the wireless network report , can I scan that and e-mail that to you to see if that helps identify the problem. Thankfully my Virgin Media Wi Fi is now working properly.
