Hello,

I have an OfficeJet 8710 and am trying to connect to my WiFi network.  My WiFi network does not broadcast its SSD.  I have performed the Wireless configurations and via the HP App on my Mac and it cannot find my network even when I specify it.  Is this a limitation or is there a setting I am missing.

Thanks in Advance

A warm welcome to HP Community!

I believe we can input the SSID into the printer using the printer control panel display.

Here is how to do it:

1.) Use the steps available here and make sure that you have the correct SSID and password.

2.) From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, and then touch (Wireless).

3.) Touch ( Settings ).

4.) Touch Wireless Settings.

5.) Touch Wireless Setup Wizard.

6.) Push "OK" to view the list of available networks. Select "Enter New Network Name (SSID)" and then press "OK."

Let me know how it goes!

Thank you for your help.  It seems that the 8710 cannot connect to 5Ghz Wireless Networks.  It can only connect to 2.4Ghz networks.  I enabled the 2.4 Ghz antenna on my router and was able to connect.  A bit disapointing that the 8710 connect connect to 5Ghz as all my wireless devices use that connection speed.

But yes if you are not broadcasting your SSID, manually specifying the SSID works.

You are welcome 🙂 Glad to hear that the issue is resolved. You are right, the Officejet 8710 has a 802.11b/g/n wireless card, which supports only 2.4Ghz wireless network 😞
