I have connected my iPad to my printer and sent myself an email to try do the same with my iPhone.  However, every time I try to connect my phone I am asked for a password for the printer.  I didn't set up a password for it and can't find one in the product information page in the HP app.  I have tried the password for my wireless network, but that is rejected.  Anyone know the answer to this problem?

Hello, and Welcome to the HP Support Community!

You most likely are using an option in the printer called "Wireless Direct".  For some reason, HP sends many of their printers out the door with this option turned ON.

You can get this password using one of the following methods:  (HP Support Page here)

  • For printers with a control panel, touch the Wi-Fi Direct icon to display the Wi-Fi Direct name and PIN.
  • For printers without a control panel, press the Information button to print a report that includes the Wi-Fi Direct name and PIN.
  • If the printer does not have an Information button, press and hold the Resume button for 2 seconds to print a report that includes the Wi-Fi Direct name and PIN.

It would be my suggestion to turn off Wifi Direct, and let the printer connect to your home network router.  That way all devices using the same network can access the printer!

Great - thanks very much! How do I turn off wifi direct as that sounds like the best option? Thanks again
