My desktop PC has no wireless adapter, but is connected to my router/switch by ethernet cable. The HP Envy 5530 is also connected to the same network. Is it possible to print things from my desktop PC, since it is on the same network, without requiring a wireless adapter? If so, how?

Welcome to HP Forums. This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.
I have gone through your Post and I would like to help
Since the Desktop and your Printer are on the same Network, you should be able to print.
Please refer to this Link: https://support.hp.com/ph-en/document/c01952985 for more details on how to setup your Printer on a wired network
Hope this helps
Keep me posted if you need further assistance 👍
Thank you and have a great day 😀

I suggest you connect your printer to your Wireless Network First
1. Write down your network name (SSID) and your wireless password.
2. Start Wireless Setup Wizard. a. From the Home screen, touch the Wireless icon, and then touch Settings. b. Touch Wireless Setup Wizard.
3. Connect to wireless network and follow the onscreen instructions
On your Desktop click this Link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-envy-5530-e-all-in-one-printer-series/5304881/mo... and download the Full Feature Software and follow the onscreen instructions
Keep me posted if you need further assistance
Thank you 😀

I tried the steps suggested and this is where I get stuck: https://imgur.com/a/0UeYzSV
The printer is definitely on the network because I front print from it using my phone. It's only my desktop PC, that is connected with an ethernet cable, that has issues.

It is great to have you back and your patience is greatly appreciated.
I am the The_Fossette. It looks like you were interacting with @KrazyToad, but he is out of the office today so I'll take over from here.
I recommend you assign a static IP to the printer and check if it resolves the issue.
Here is how it is done.
- Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to get the IP address.
- Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
- Go to "Network" tab - General - Select "Network protocols" - Select "Enable IPv4 only" (or similar) - Apply the settings.
- Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
- Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.
- Click on radio button which says “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)
Now, try the steps below to install the printer over the network:
- First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present.
- Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Officejet printer entries and uninstall them.
- Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
- Restart your computer.
- Open the Run window (Press Windows logo key + R), type “services.msc” and press ok to get services window.
- Scroll down to “Remote Procedure Call (RPC)” – right-click and go to properties. Make sure the service is started and startup type is “Automatic”.
- Now scroll up and go to “Function Discovery Provider Host” – right-click and select properties – Change the startup type to “manual” and start the service.
- Repeat the same exercise on “Function Discovery Resource Publication” as well.
- Click on https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers and install the software.
- Select Wireless option on the connection page and then finish the installation.
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

I went through the listed steps (In the instructions, "General" should be "Networking" when looking at the page) and was still unable to establish a Network Installation when going through the installation. The only thing I was unable to change was the DNS because I'm using an Asus Onhub with Google Wifi software and am currently using Cloudflare DNS across all devices. I don't suspect that's the issue though.
