I have the exact same issue with my Officejet 8600 plus.  I have tried multiple times and still get the message "could not get printer information from HP."

Hi @y2k1

I'm glad you were able to get this issue resolved.

The issue with the Dialogue Popup seems to be an issue with  Google Cloud Print.

Thank you. 🙂

Hi @y2k1

Welcome to HP Support Forums. A really great platform for posting all your questions and finding solutions.

I understand that you are unable to connect to Google Cloud Print

I'd like to help.

Let's Restore the Printer Network to Defaults

  1. On the printer control panel, touch the Wireless icon , and then touch the Wireless Menu icon .

  2. Touch Wireless Settings, then Scroll down and look for Restore Network defaults ( or similar option )

Restart the Router, Printer, and computer.

Connect your Printer back to your Network and then follow the instructions in the Link

If this doesn't work, please assign a Manual IP Address and try registering to Google Cloud Print.

- Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
- Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
- Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
- On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you do not know the range, change the last set of numbers (those after the last '.') to 250
- Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different if so, use that)
- Enter your router's IP (on the Network Config Page) for the gateway.
- Enter 8.8.8.8 for the first DNS and 8.8.4.4 for the second DNS. This is Google DNS. You can choose another external DNS if you wish.
- Click 'Apply'.

Let me know how it goes.

Thank you. 🙂

Sadly what you are not being told is that HP is experiencing this issue on their end.  The guide that was posted by the HP rep is not the answer, but rather it's a waiting game.

I called HP yesterday afternoon and after much waiting and a transfer to someone in the know, I found out that they are aware of the problem but have no ETA on the resolution.

Thanks so much for the help KrazyToad!  I was very frustrated because i received a private message that said I needed to call another HP support line which I did and they were very unhelpful and actually gave me incorrect information!

However, your solution seemed to work for me. One thing I also did was associate my printer with Google cloud print first with my iPad and then shared the printer with my chrome books and was able to accept the “share” request from the chromebooks. I received a message that I can now print with the google accounts associated with the chrome books. The only thing that’s happening now is when I went to try to print to make sure it worked, the print dialogue pops up but only shows a “save” option not a print one. Is this now a google cloud print issue?

Thank you so much for the help!

That is surpising - I guess you're the lucky anomaly in this sad situation!  Best of luck!

Krazy Toad,

Everything is working ok! The “save” issue I was experiencing was a google cloud issue and I just needed to change the default. I can print now. Thanks again for everything!
