I'm trying to signup for instant ink but cant get the webservices to load to find the claim code and setup the eprint email.
I access the printer via HTTP:\\HPAC8006 as suggested but although it gets redirected to the https: version the webservices box displays a warning and keeps asking to reload.
The printer is connected to the internet, strenght is good so I cant work out what to do next.

It sounds like you are trying to useEmbedded Web Server (EWS).
Consider using printer's IP address with EWS.
Example:
Open your favorite browser > type / enter Printer IP address into URL / Address bar
tab Web Services
EWS_8630_Web-Services_1
General Instructions
HP Instant Ink > How to > Printer Setup, Installations & Updates > Turning On Web Services

Thanks Dragon .. the issue is that I cant even get to the EWS icon .. I type the IP address in the browser , it loads and then the Web services box displays "warning" .. Click to reload ..
I cant get past that and see the icon you display.

Not sure about an EWS icon -- using the browser to connect to EWS does not require accessing EWS through the Printer Assistant shortcut icon on the desktop named for the printer.
The printer has to be connected to the network to use EWS.
You must know the IP address of the connection to use the Browser method.
Install the Full Feature Software, correct any network issues, then tackle the setup for Instant Ink...

This is going to sound like a scene from helpdesk 101 but when I turned it off by unplugging it and switched it on the EWS ico appeard.
Previously I had been using the on off button on the printer and looks like that did not reset it completely
Thanks for your help .. I'll keep the documentation for future use .

No worries. You are welcome.
From a Life Past...
More times than I can count someone would call us to report a problem: "This does not work, please help!" When IT shows up at the office and tries the same thing, all is magically fine. We called this the "IT Effect". Smiling.
Happy Printing!
