I have this same issue, and it's frustrating that the answer to it appears to be a secret. This printer does not have a touchscreen for changing settings, so there's no Support menu accessible from the printer itself. Resetting the network by holding the Cancel and Wi-Fi buttons does not clear the EWS password. Resetting the printer by removing power, then holding the Power and Cancel button for twenty seconds while the power is plugged back in doesn't reset this password either.
I've read elsewhere that the password is the same as the password that was used on the HP web site when the printer was first configured, but that is not helpful to me.
I've seen in other threads a suggestion that there is a solution, but it is only passed along by private message, for some reason that's unclear to me. I'd love to get that information, if anybody is able to pass along that private message.

Splendid effort and fabulous description of the issue before posting. Kudos to you on that score. You are a valued HP customer and it is paramount to assist you here. I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you.
After reviewing your post thoroughly, I see that you have already tried to restore the printer to the network defaults by pressing and holding down Wireless + Cancel button for 5 seconds.
In this scenario, I will share you a private message with details. Please watch your inbox for more information.
Let me know if this helps!
Have a great day ahead! 🙂

For the sake of anybody lurking, the private message was simply a referral to HP Support. There is no secret private-message-only solution to this issue. To summarize, apparently the Embedded Web Service admin password on the DeskJet 2652 (and possibly other printers) will be the password you used when you registered the printer on HP's web site. If you've forgotten that password, there appears to be no simple way to reset it. Clearing the network settings (Cancel + Wi-Fi for three seconds), or HP's instructions for resetting to factory defaults (unplug power cord, hold Power and Cancel as power cord is plugged back in, keep holding for twenty seconds) do not reset this password.
As the password is needed for getting the printer to join your Wi-Fi network, that feature will be unavailable to you if your printer is not currently on your network, and you've forgotten the EWS admin password you previously set. The HP Smart utility won't help you, even if you connect with USB. I would love to learn that I'm somehow wrong about this, but I've already put more time into solving it than a $49 MSRP printer ($39 at WalMart) deserves.
