Not sure if I can describe this the right way. Please see the photo. 

 

Whether I print from my phone or desktop, the print jobs are the same. It comes out like an image and out of focus. When trying to print PDF, I get the document as an image. I've attempted to clean the print head, alignment... all comes out normal. The print settings are set to document (fit to page or fill page does not change the problem). I've not ever had this issue with any previous HP printer.

It sounds like your HP Smart Tank 7602 is having issues with print quality where text documents are being printed as if they were images. Here are some steps you can try to address this problem.

 

  • Check Printer Settings: Ensure that the print settings on both your phone and desktop are set to print documents, not images. Double-check that the settings are correct for the type of document you're printing.
  • Update or Reinstall Drivers: Make sure you have the latest printer drivers installed on your desktop. Sometimes outdated drivers can cause unexpected print quality issues. You can download the latest drivers from the HP website.
  • Check Print Quality Settings: Go into the printer’s settings and look for print quality options. Ensure that it’s set to the highest quality for text printing and not to a photo or image mode.
  • Perform a Print Head Alignment: Since you mentioned you already tried cleaning the print head, try performing a print head alignment from the printer’s maintenance menu.
  • Check for Firmware Updates: Sometimes, firmware updates can fix bugs related to printing. Check if there’s a firmware update available for your printer.
  • Test Different Document Formats: Try printing different types of documents, such as Word files or plain text files, to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is specific to PDF files or affects all document types.
  • Reset the Printer: As a last resort, you can try resetting the printer to its factory settings. This can sometimes resolve unexplained issues. Make sure to back up any important settings or configurations before doing this.

Seems like there was a firmware update that wasn't going through and I had to start it manually. I'll definitely be checking for that in the future. Thank you!
