Printer is either "new" (as in subject line) or printer is "only few months old".

??

Rhetorical questions - places to check / look / consider

 

If "first attempt on a day" (for example),

and
Printer is "few months old", then the printer might need maintenance / cleaning.

 

Known solutions here - presented in the order to be checked / completed :

If "first attempt ever" printing from phone, then try sending / copying / transferring the photo to a PC or Mac and print the photo - set up the photo as best can be done (For example, use HP Smart for Windows or HP Smart for Mac), print, and check result.  Why?  Color editing options are different on the Windows and Mac versions and the results might be different depending on the options and the condition of the original photo / image.

This printer is supposed to use only HP genuine ink cartridges - and, in fact, likely cannot use anything else.  IF you managed to install Not-HP ink, the printer may stop accepting them - and more importantly for THIS inquiry, Not-HP ink is not supported.

"New" / "few months old" printer is covered by hardware warranty,

If nothing helps, for example, maintenance, new ink cartridges, testing the image on different applications, settings, then you can certainly contact HP Support > open a case > provide all the required information > explain what you have tried and the results you are seeing > ask for help.  Contact information provided later in this message.

  • Explain the problem > Ask for help

  • After the case is submitted, Contact information for your area will be displayed on your screen

  • HP may tell you that certain services are not covered under warranty.  This is normal business practice.  Standard Warranty typically covers specific hardware issues as explained in the Warranty contract. Care Pack coverage and warranties differ by contract package.
  • HP websites are the only sites allowed to use the HP copyright  ® circle/logo.  Look for the copyright on any website claiming to be HP. If in doubt, scroll to the bottom of the Website to find HP copyright logo.  Still in doubt?  Stay away from the site.

check single or multiple devices.

 

  • If necessary, Select your Country on the main website page or at the bottom (click Flag)
  • Scroll down > To the right of Check multiple warranties, Click Continue
  • Enter the Serial Number and Country for one or more devices / systems to be checked
  • Check the box to verify you are "Not a robot"
  • Click Submit (at bottom of list entries)
  • When the page opens, Click View Details
