HP ENVY 4520 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I have been having a problem with margin alignment when printing double-sided with my HP Envy 4520. I am printing on standard printer paper (8-1/2”x11”, 20lb.). The first side prints just fine, but the margins on the second side come out shifted by as much as half an inch.

This problem has persisted when printing from various programs and devices. (Adobe, Chrome, Firefox, desktop, mobile.)

I have cleaned the rollers inside the printer that the paper is fed past, but the problem has persisted.

The printer in question is about 8 years old and works fine aside from this alignment issue.

Any help sorting out this problem would be much appreciated.

Hi @AJT15,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I understand you are facing an issue with your Envy 4520 poor margin alignment printing double-sided. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

Update the printer firmware

  • Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your product
  • Click here to know different methods of updating the printer firmware.

If the issue persists, I recommend you delete the driver and root level and retry, follow the below steps :

1) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2) Select your HP Printer

3) Select Uninstall

4) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’

6) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.

7) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe”

😎 Click on the “Drivers” tab

9) Look for an HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10) Select Ok

11) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12) Close Devices and Printers.

Use this link to download and install the new driver. Configure the printer and try printing.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hello! Thank you for the thorough suggestion! I followed the steps outlined and unfortunately, the problem is still persisting.

i will also point out that the printer is misprinting on the reverse side *regardless* of the device asking it to print. Sending the print job from the computer or the phones makes no difference, implying it’s a printer issue not a computer issue.
