Envy 4520
macOS 10.12 Sierra

Recently installed an Envy 4520 [wi-fi] to use the Instant Ink program. I also have a Brother laser printer hardwired to my Mac. Since adding the Envy I've had issues printing from my computer on both printers. Sometimes they will print just fine, others i get the "looking for printer" error [wi-fi blue light is constantly on] and it may print after a long time. i have read the helps on here, reset all of the printers and still get this aggravating problem. I just want to be able to print anything from either printer. The copy feature works fine on both, just intermitten errors while printing from my Mac.

Welcome to HP forums, I see that you are getting "looking for printer" error.

  • Is the second printer model is also HP Envy 4520?

Meanwhile, follow the below steps to fix this issue.

If not, update the printer firmware.

Refer this HP document to update the printer firmware:-  click here

Restart Mac, printer and router.

  1. Disconnect the power cord from the router.
  2. Turn off the printer.
  3. Turn off the Mac.
  4. Reconnect the power cord to the router, then wait for the Internet activity light to display a normal connected status.
  5. Turn on the printer.
  6. Turn on the Mac.
  7. Try printing again.

Remove and add the printer AirPrint:-

Add the printer with Airprint

  1. Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.

  2. Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, and then do one of the following steps.

    • If your printer is listed, remove and re-add the printer to confirm it is set up for AirPrint. Click the printer name, click the minus sign to delete the printer, click the plus sign , click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name and then continue to the next step.

    • If your printer is not listed, click the plus sign, click Add Printer or Scanner, click the name of your printer, and then continue to the next step.

  3. Confirm AirPrint or Secure AirPrint displays in the Use or Print Using menu, and then click Add.

Select AirPrint from the Use menu
  4. Open a document or photo, click File, and then click Print.

If this helps, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others and please give the same post a Kudos for my efforts to help.
Take care and have a blessed week ahead.

Keep me posted.

Cheers.
