Hi,

don’t have the option to turn off we services as the have never activated, just have option to cancel setup which I did and tried to setup again but the same problem persists. Just says printer is trying to connect to web services server.

@Oliver1990 Alright, I appreciate the clarification, in fact, to ensure I'm on the same page, is this what you mean:

The printer does not connect to Web Services, and your printer or computer displays the following error message:

  • Web Services Problem. Problem connecting to Web Services server.

If yes, here's what you need to do, to fix the issue:

Step 1: Make sure your printer supports Web Services

Make sure your printer supports Web Services by looking for an HP ePrint logo, button, or icon on the printer control panel.

Examples of the HP ePrint logo

HP ePrint logo.

HP ePrint logo.

If the control panel does not have an HP ePrint icon or button, or you are unsure if your printer is supported, go to Mobile Printing Solutions Compatible with HP Printers to see if your printer supports HP ePrint.

NOTE:

Due to a security update, as of September 1, 2016, some older HP printers can no longer connect to Web Services. For more information, go to Web Services Stop Working.

If your printer supports Web Services, continue to the next step.

(By the end of this article all the issues should be resolved)

I press the e-print to set up , it goes to check for updates then goes to message, the printer was unable to connect to web services server because the server might be busy or temporarily unavailable. However, the printer will try to connect again, to which I press ok.  After that whenever I press e-print button it just reads the printer is trying to connect to the web services server, to which it never does it just stays on that message.

Hi, tried all of these steps and keep having the same issue.

HP Recommended

@Oliver1990 I suggest you upgrade the printer firmware using the instructions mentioned in this link: Click here, once successfully done, please restart the printer

And then, go through the steps to turn on web services again and this time it should work.

Good luck!

Hi, already done all this and  updated firmware and still doesn’t work.

HP Recommended

@Oliver1990 there are just a few more steps we need to perform and this should be fixed, stay with me!

Let's perform a hard reset to refresh the printer settings and follow the steps below:

  1. Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

  4. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

  5. Wait at least 60 seconds.

  6. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

    NOTE:

HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.

  7. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

  8. Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

  9. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Please follow the below steps to assign a manual/static IP to resolve your concern:

-Verify in the printer that 'Auto Off/Sleep' is disabled. Use the Embedded Web Server (EWS) by going to the printers IP address in your browsers address bar, click Settings Tab/Auto-Off. --Or use the Printer Assistant, Printer Home Page (EWS). Also, check your Printers Properties.

-If the printer supports and has IPv6 enabled, turn off IPv6 in the printer.

-If needed and you assigned a static IP address, try using 8.8.8.8 for the Preferred DNS server and 8.8.4.4 at the Alternate DNS server.

-Verify the printer is on the latest firmware by checking with the HP Support site.

In the router: (Refer to your router manual for information)

Use a fixed wireless channel like 1, 6 or 11, never 'auto', try channel 1 first then the rest.

Set router to 20Mhz only, or 145Mbps depending on the router.

Always use WPA2-AES (Personal) encryption, but you can try `mixed' mode.

Disable WPS and never use it and disable UPnP for the routers security. Nobody can hack your system now and helps with wireless connectivity (if you want to know why search the web).

If you have a dual-band router (2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz bands), make sure the SSID's are NOT the same, they must be different for all bands, even for any Guest networks.

SSID broadcast must be enabled.

Save all settings. Power off both, wait 2 mins. Power on the router and wait 2 mins.

Power on the printer and verify it reconnects to the router

You can also refer to the below video for the same.

Note that, in the video, the interface shown is the Windows interface, but the steps are the same as it's done using a web browser.

And the article may have the title of another printer, but the steps are bound to help resolve your concern as well.

If the issue persists, follow the below steps:

· Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to get the IP address.

· Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.

· Go to "Network" tab - General - Select "Network protocols" - Select "Enable IPv4 only" (or similar) - Apply the settings.

· Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)

· Click on the radio button which says, “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.

· Click on radio button which says, “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)

· Restart the printer and then router once done.

I hope that answers your query,
