I've tried printing from my Huawei pad but it won't let me print the Word document as it's stating 'not supported file'. Honestly, I just want to print something. Why does everything have to be so complicated!!

Welcome to the HP Community.

I had to look up the "Huawei pad".

Reference

https://consumer.huawei.com/en/tablets/matepad-pro-12-6/specs/

Appears to be a mobile notebook similar in size / shape / general type to an iPad

Huawei pad does not run Windows 10 - printing software for Windows 10 won't work on this device.

Operating System:  HarmonyOS 2

The Harmony Operating System appears to be a derivative of Android.

The problem, if there is one, might be that this Operating System is not compatible with any HP print application available for the printer.

Google owns the Play Store (where one might normally find Android apps) - getting apps for your Huawei "pad" might require that you go through whatever "apps" portal is available for the Huawei products.

Personally, I think the complication is simply one of finding an application you can use on your product that supports Print.

Assuming that is the case, the printer is unaware of what it is printing - the print application must provide the means to translate the data into a format that printer can understand and send that data across your network to the printer.

In general, Printing a PDF file is more likely supported in most Operating Systems.

Consider Exporting your Word document to PDF and print that file.

Thank you so much for your help. That's a really comprehensive reply and has helps me to understand what was going on. I eventually saved it in PDF format and sent it to myself as an attachment in an email; saved it again and it printed quite happily x

You are welcome.

Honestly, my world must be tiny - I was unaware of the device brand.  Learned something new...

I'm in England. It's a reasonably well known brand here, if only for being (dis)reputable for doing something like providing 4 or 5 G but without the necessary security requirements to go with it.
