I understand you've forgotten the password to your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281, you can perform a factory reset to restore the printer to its default settings, including the default password. Here's how you can do it:

• While holding the lower right corner of the touchscreen display, turn on the printer.
• Continue to hold the lower right corner of the touchscreen display until the "Permanent Storage Init" message appears on the display, then release it.
• The printer will perform a factory reset. This process may take a few minutes.
• Once the factory reset is complete, the printer will restart.
• After the printer restarts, you should be able to access it using the default settings, including the default password. The default password for HP printers is typically either blank or "admin". You can consult your printer's manual for specific information on default passwords if necessary.
