Forwarding to ePrint Address?

This is only semi-related as the original request does not involve the C address, which possibly complicates the scenario.

I have been working on this issue for a couple of days. 

The issue seems to be that when the email is forwarded the header retains the original email address. So if you send an email to Printer@domain.com and forward it to %$##$#$%#@hpeprint.com the email will arrive at HP eprint servers with the address for Printer@domain.com . The hpeprint servers obviously have no idea what to do with this address and so they return an address not found error to printer@domain.com

I beleive the solution would be to forward with a BCC or to be able to change the header of the email. Another option would be to allow the printer name in the subject line email that is sent to ######@hpeprint.com

If anyone has a solution I'm very interested. We are using this in a school to help us on our transition to one to one and currently there is no accountability on HP eprint. If I can forward through an email address, i will be able to keep a copy; just in case a student decides to be mischevious.

I have an idea for a way to solve this problem, based on what you wrote. If one sets up a mailing list server and defines a list, then the mail list server will forward mail it receives for that list to all the list "members". Many such servers can be configured that the list mail is sent "To: xxxxx" where "xxxxx" is the member's email address, rather than the list address. Therefore, it would seem that if you create a list with the hpeprint.com address as a member, email sent to the "list" would go to hpeprint.com with the right "To:" header & get printed OK.

@This could also solve @jemakrol 's problem - he can add another address as a member of the list & all print jobs would go both to the printer & to the other address (as a backup, log, registry, notification, whatever)

Unfortunately, I haven't had time to test this potential solution. If someone else can try it out, I'd like to hear the results.

Nope, Google groups doesn't change the To header. I was thinking of something like LISTSERV. Maybe GNU Mailman (see http://www.list.org/) would do it. You'll need to setup and configure a server to try it out. There are probably others, too. I don't have time to research it further at the moment - sorry.

How in the world is this still an issue? I have the exact same problem as described in this thread. I want to simply forward an email to print@mydomain.com and after it forwards to myname@hpeprint.com, it should print\...but the  "TO" in the header retains the original email address.

Someone please UNMARK this as having a solution...because it does not.

Yosh, this is a clever suggestion, and with some listserv setups, it might work.  Alas, I tried it using Rackspace's mail services (where I host my domain's e-mail services), and it did not work.   Thanks, J
