We have been using the Galaxy tablets & HP 200 portable printers in our trucks for 10 years with no issues that I haven't been able to figure out, and now out of the blue I can not get the tablet and printer to work together consistently. If I set the printer up in the tablet as a new connection, it will work until I disconnect and try to use again. It will show connected in the Wi-Fi direct settings, but when trying to print, it shows the printer as not available. If I delete it and set it up again it will will work until I disconnect and try it again. I have tried this with 2 different printers (1 of them brand new out of the box) and 2 different tablets (both being only 4 months old) with the same result. I have tried the Samsung print service on the tablet & the HP print service app. If I try to install the printer with HP Smart app, the printer will not show up as an option to install. I have tried using the tablet as a hot spot to connect with the same result. I can print directly from my I-phone without any problems on Wi-Fi direct. There has to be a setting somewhere that needs changed, but I am unable to figure it out.

Hi @CD0331,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you've already performed several troubleshooting steps, but let's try to narrow down the issue further and explore some potential solutions.
Printer Firmware Update: Ensure that your HP 200 portable printer has the latest firmware installed. Manufacturers often release updates to address compatibility issues and improve overall performance.
Tablet Software Update: Make sure that your Galaxy tablets are running the latest version of their operating system. Software updates can include fixes for connectivity issues and enhance device compatibility.
Forget and Reconnect: Instead of just disconnecting the printer, try "forgetting" the Wi-Fi Direct connection on the tablet and then setting it up again as a new connection. This ensures a fresh connection attempt.
Static IP Address: Assign a static IP address to your HP 200 printer. This can sometimes resolve connection issues. Check your printer's manual for instructions on setting a static IP, and then configure it on the tablet accordingly.
Wi-Fi Direct Troubleshooting: Check if there is an option to reset or troubleshoot Wi-Fi Direct on both the tablet and the printer. This might involve clearing existing connections or restarting the Wi-Fi Direct functionality.
Printer Network Settings: Ensure that the HP 200 printer is set up correctly for Wi-Fi Direct printing. Verify that it is discoverable and configured to accept connections from the tablet.
Security Software/Firewall: Review any security software or firewall settings on your tablet that might be blocking the connection. Temporarily disable security software (if possible) for testing purposes.
Bluetooth interference: If your tablet has Bluetooth enabled, try disabling it temporarily. Sometimes, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi can interfere with each other.
Printer App Permissions: Check the app permissions for the printing apps (Samsung Print Service, HP Print Service Plugin, HP Smart). Ensure that they have the necessary permissions to access Wi-Fi and other relevant settings.
HP Smart App: If you prefer using the HP Smart app, try reinstalling it on your tablet. Also, make sure that the app has the necessary permissions.
Remember to document any changes you make and observe if there's any improvement after each step.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

I have actually done all of these steps already.
The HP Smart app will not find the HP200 printers, and it does not appear on the list when searching for it manually.
I have also done a factory reset on both of the tablets and printers to clear out any settings that may have been causing problems.
I have also tried to run the tablet as a hotspot to connect with the printer having the same result.
When I set them up initially, they work fine until I disconnect and try it again, and that's when the problem occurs.
I have set up many of these for our trucks and never had a problem until now. I think there has to be a setting somewhere that needs changed, but I don't know what it is. I would have thought doing a factory reset would have taken care of it, but that is not the case. We have 13 other units running this same set up without any problems and this has me confused.
