  • I have an HP Envy 6000.   Every time I need to print a document via the App it has to be a PDF.
  • The HP App only shows "my Photos" or PDFs as document types.
  • How can I add different types?

Hi @ntw62

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how limiting it feels when the HP App only shows PDFs or photos, especially when you want to print other document types. Thank you for already checking the available options—that effort is appreciated.

Let’s go through the ways you can expand what the HP App can print with your Envy 6000:

Step 1: Use “Share” or “Open With” on Your Device

  • On Windows or macOS, open the document in its native application (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Select File > Print and choose your HP Envy 6000 directly.
  • Alternatively, use Share > Print with HP App if available. This passes the file type through the app without needing to convert it manually.

Step 2: Convert Automatically Through the HP App

  • The HP App is designed to handle PDFs and images directly.
  • For other formats (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), the app relies on your device’s operating system to convert them into a printable format.
  • Open the document in its application, then use the Share option to send it to the HP App. The app will convert it in the background.

Step 3: Print from Cloud Storage

  1. In the HP App, add a cloud account such as OneDrive, Google Drive, or Dropbox.
  2. Upload your Word, Excel, or PowerPoint files to the cloud.
  3. Access them through the HP App’s cloud section and print directly.
  4. This method allows you to bypass the “Photos or PDFs only” limitation.

Step 4: Update the HP App

  • Ensure you have the latest version of the HP App installed from the Microsoft Store (Windows) or App Store (iOS/macOS).
  • Updates often expand supported file types and improve compatibility.

By opening documents in their native applications and using the Share or cloud storage options, you can print Word, Excel, and other formats without manually converting them to PDF first.
