What do all the light colors mean on the printers connected to the internet wirelessly.  Red, white, green, orange, etc.

Welcome to HP forums, I see that you want assistance about the colors on the printer.

  • Provide the printer model number or the product number?
  • Where are these color mentioned?

Reply with the result of the above-mentioned steps, for further assistance.

Cheers.

I have several different HP printers in HP Connected.  I believe that the colors show the current status of each printer using hpeprint.  And I am having problems with the two printers with a color of orange.  I cannot print to them using hpeprint. Why?

Thanks for the reply.

I appreciate your time and effort.

If the status is green before the printer model, then it is on and no issues connecting to the web services.

If this helps, please mark the public post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others

Great to know about the green light.

What about the orange light, what does this mean?

The two printers in the above post are not working via eprint. Why?

This is why I have asked about the meaning of each of the light colors.....

Hi @infogatherer, I am the Mr.Robot. It looks like you were interacting with @sandytechy20, but he is out of the office today, so I'll take over from here.

Is the web services enabled on your printer?

As you mentioned you have issues printing using eprint on your printer.

Try the steps recommended below to disable e-print services.

  1. On your printer control panel, touch or press the HP ePrint icon or button, and then touch or press Settings.

If your printer control panel does not have an icon or button, navigate to Web Services Setup, Network Setup, or Wireless Settings to open the Web Services menu, depending on your printer model.

  2. Select Turn Off, Disable, or Remove, depending on your printer model.

  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to turn off Web Services.

Refer this article to know more information about disabling E-print services on the printer. Click Here

Also, Try assigning a manual IP to your printer and check if it helps.

•                     Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to get the IP address.
•                     Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
•                     Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
•                     Click on the radio button which says, “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.

•                     Click on radio button which says, “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)
•                     Restart the printer and then router once done.

Also, download and run print and scan doctor on your PC.

Refer this article to know more information about using HP print and scan doctor.

If the issue still persists uninstall the printer software from root level and install the full feature printer software. (For Windows only)

In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.

Select your HP printer.

Select Uninstall.

In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.

In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”

Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.

Type printui.exe /s and click OK.

Click on Drivers tab.

Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click remove at the bottom.

Select OK.

Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.

Close Devices and Printers.

You can install the full feature printer software using this link. Click Here

Let me know if this works!

Have a great day! 🙂

So, of course this did not work.

What does the color of orange mean?

This is really getting annoying because HP does not help with these issues.

A simple phone call would easily help, well if the colors have meanings.

I have figured out all but orange up to this point.
