Because I am a college student living on-campus whose university will not allow for printers to be connected to school wifi, I need to print from my computer through Wifi Direct. I followed the instructions the best I could, and I selected my printer's name under the wifi menu on my laptop and entered the right password. However, the wifi icon on my computer indicates that the connection to my deskjet failed. When I attempt to print something, my printer will appear in the print menu, but when I select "print" my computer says that the printer is offline. The wifi direct button on my printer is on and not flashing. What do you recommend that I do?

I'll try to help you
First ensure the Printer and Mac has the latest updates
Printer Firmware: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02919168
Mac update: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT2015
Next Forget the WiFi-Direct Network from your Mac and restart the Mac
- Open System Preferences
- Click Network, then Advanced…
- Select a network from the list and click the “-” icon just below the list to forget/remove it
While you are restarting your Mac reset the Printer's Network Settings back to Default and enable WiFi-Direct again and try connecting your Mac
Press the Wireless button and the Cancel button from the printer control panel at the same time, and then hold them for three seconds.
- On the printer control panel, press the Wi-Fi Direct button
- To find the Wi-Fi Direct name and password, press the Information button to print a printer information page.
- From your mobile device, select a document from a print enabled application, and then select the option to print the document.
- From the list of available printers, choose the Wi-Fi Direct name shown such as DIRECT-**-HP DeskJet 3700 series (where ** are the unique characters to identify your printer).
- If it prompts for a Password, you can try the default password 12345678 or the password from the Information page which you printed.
Keep me posted how it goes 😊
