I have an old HP ENVY 6000 series. The default setting (when printing a double sided document) is set to "long edge binding". I wish to change it to "short edge binding". How do I do this? I do not have the app which only works with an iPhone or iPad (I have a MAC). Help appreciated please?! Thanks.

Hi @Eralc1968,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To change the default setting for double-sided printing from "long edge binding" to "short edge binding" on your HP ENVY 6000 series printer using a Mac, you can follow these general steps. Please note that the exact steps may vary slightly depending on your specific printer model and the version of the Mac operating system you're using.
Open System Preferences:
- Click on the Apple logo in the top-left corner of your screen.
- Select "System Preferences" from the drop-down menu.
Access Printers & Scanners:
- In the System Preferences window, locate and click on the "Printers & Scanners" icon.
Select your HP ENVY 6000 Series Printer:
- From the list of printers on the left side of the window, click on your HP ENVY 6000 series printer.
Open Print Queue:
- Click on the "Open Print Queue" button.
Access Printer Setup:
- In the Print Queue window, look for a "Printer Setup" or "Settings" button. Click on it.
Change Default Print Settings:
- Look for a setting related to double-sided printing or duplex printing. The wording may vary.
- Find the option for "Binding" or "Flip on Short Edge" and select it.
Save Changes:
- After making the desired changes, look for a "Save" or "OK" button to apply the changes.
Test Print:
- To ensure the changes take effect, print a test document and verify that it now uses the "short edge binding" for double-sided printing.
If you can't find the exact settings in the Print Queue or Printer Setup, you may also check the print dialog when you go to print a document:
Open Print Dialog:
- Open the print dialog when you are about to print a document (File > Print).
Printer Preferences:
- Look for a "Printer" or "Printer Settings" option within the print dialog.
Double-Sided Printing Settings:
- Check for settings related to double-sided printing. Adjust the binding or duplex setting to "short edge binding" if available.
Save Changes:
- Save or apply the changes before printing.
These steps should help you change the default double-sided printing settings on your HP ENVY 6000 series printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
