Hi @Vince124

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for explaining the situation—and I’m truly sorry you’re facing this disruption. When your HP ENVY Photo 6255 shows a steady blue light and your iPhone is connected to the DIRECT-8E-HP-EN network, it means the printer is in Wi-Fi Direct mode, which should allow direct printing without a router.

However, if printing fails, it’s often due to a missing connection handshake or app-level permissions.

Let’s walk through a few steps to help restore printing from your iPhone:

1. Confirm Wi-Fi Direct Connection

  • On your iPhone, go to Settings > Wi-Fi.
  • Ensure you’re connected to DIRECT-8E-HP-EN.
  • If prompted for a password, enter 12345678 (default for HP Wi-Fi Direct).

2. Use HP Smart App for Printing

AirPrint may not always work reliably over Wi-Fi Direct. Using the HP Smart app ensures proper communication.

  • Download or open the HP Smart app for iOS.
  • Tap Add Printer and select your HP ENVY Photo 6255.
  • Once connected, try printing a test document or photo from within the app.

3. Restart Devices and Printer

Sometimes a simple reset clears connection issues.

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it for 30 seconds.
  • Restart your iPhone.
  • Power the printer back on and reconnect to DIRECT-8E-HP-EN.

4. Check Printer Status and Firmware

If the printer is stuck in a partial setup state, it may block print jobs.

5. Reset Network Settings (if needed)

If the issue persists, reset the printer’s network settings:

  • Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons together for 5 seconds.
  • The blue light will begin blinking, indicating the printer is ready for setup.
  • Reconnect using HP Smart and reselect Wi-Fi Direct.

You’ve already taken the right steps by checking the connection, and I’ll stay with you until printing is restored. If you'd like help walking through the app setup or testing a print job, I’m here to assist.
