Trying to connect a new Envy 4527 printer wirelessly to my Netgear DG834G v3 router.
I get error message stating No Filtering - FAIL.
I have checked my router settings and filtering is not enabled. I have repeated the set up process a number of times double checking settings as I go but have had no success!
What now?

Good day. Thanks for stopping by the HP forums. I will be glad to assist you and let’s get right to it. Great description of the issue. It is amply appreciated.
I will be providing a roadmap with some troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue. Let us try these steps:
- Did it occur after a recent power outage or surge?
- Did it occur making changes to the router?
- What is the OS associated with the printer?
- Is it Windows or Mac?
- Please perform a hard reset on the printer from this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-officejet-3830-all-in-one-printer-series/7172321/model/11503... and follow instructions from the section “Step 1: Reset the printer”
- Then update the printer’s firmware by following instructions from this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_1776648-1643972-16
- Use a USB cable to update the printer’s firmware.
- Then power cycle the router. Remove the power cord from the router. Don't power it on immediately. Wait for a few minutes.
- Then from this printer's user guide link: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04778353 restore network defaults on the printer. refer to page 39 for steps on how to do it.
- Then power on the router. Now use the wireless setup wizard on the printer to connect to the router and check if it works.
- This should fix the issue.
If the issue persists, and then install the printer as a USB printer and convert it to a wireless printer by following directions from this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-envy-4520-all-in-one-printer-series/5447920/model/11534751/d... based on your operating system.
Other steps to try:
- Update the router's firmware.
- Run all the latest operating system updates (depending on the computer being Windows or Mac) and ensure that the most current OS updates.
- are correctly installed
If the issue continues and the OS is Windows, then follow directions from this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-envy-4520-all-in-one-printer-series/5447920/model/11534751/d... (HP 4500, 4600 Inkjet Printers - Wireless Printer Setup (Windows) and perform all the relevant steps required.
This should fix the issue.
Good luck and keep me posted about the developments. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue and give the post a Kudos for my efforts to help. Thank you and have a great week ahead. 🙂
