HP ENVY Photo 7855 All-in-One Printer

Not sure if this problem has been happening since an update. For the last month or so, I am having issues with my HP Envy Photo 7855 printing from any mobile device. I used to be able to use the print option but now I can't print anything unless I use the PH Smart app and sometimes that don't even work. I usually get a message saying "the paper size detected by the printer does not match the paper size selected for the print job" even though I have the correct paper size selected.

Today I tried copying a paper directly from the printer itself. Told me the same thing.

We print from our Apple phones or ipad

thanks,

Carole

Hi @CaroleRH,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you're experiencing issues with your HP Envy Photo 7855 printer when trying to print from mobile devices, and even when copying directly from the printer. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem.

  1. Check Paper Settings:

    • Ensure that the paper size selected on your mobile device matches the paper size loaded into the printer.
    • Double-check the paper size settings on the printer itself. Make sure the loaded paper matches the selected paper size.
  2. Update Firmware:

    • Check if there's a firmware update available for your HP Envy Photo 7855 printer. Firmware updates can address compatibility issues and improve overall performance.
  3. Reinstall the HP Smart App:

    • Uninstall the HP Smart app from your mobile device and reinstall it from the app store. This can help ensure you have the latest version and that any potential app-related issues are resolved.
  4. Restart Devices:

    • Power off both your printer and the mobile devices you are trying to print from. Turn them back on and attempt to print again.
  5. Reset Printer Preferences:

    • On the printer, navigate to the settings menu and reset any paper size or print job preferences. This may help clear any conflicting settings.
  6. Check for Mobile Printing Updates:

    • Make sure your Apple devices have the latest operating system updates installed. Sometimes, compatibility issues can be resolved with updates.
  7. Check Network Connection:

    • Ensure that both the printer and your mobile devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. A stable and strong connection is crucial for successful wireless printing.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for those suggestions. I’ve tried them all.

the strange thing is after I posted, I left my printer on while doing other things around the house. I know it was over an hour later when I came back to the printer. I tried copying directly from the printer again. Lo and behold, it started to work 🤷🏻‍♀️  haven’t tried mobile printing from any of our devices since then so we will see if it continues
