Good afternoon everyone. So i work from home and recently purchased an HP OfficeJet Pro 8740. So, before this printer, i had a smaller one that wasnt very effecient, hence the upgrade. I had the HP Instant Ink service, which was fine.
This new printer came with its own ink cartridges, and to this day, i have not used half of the capacity. Just to reiterate, the printer cartridges that CAME with the printer are still in, and about halfway used. So, i get an email stating that i have reached the capacity on my printing and I may need to update my plan, which is fine. My question is this... Why is HP charging me to use my own printer cartridges? They havent even sent me replacements yet, and im being charged for their service?! What service exactly are y'all giving me if i am not even using the cartridges you never sent me and it was mysteriously put on hold? I find this very deceitful. I dont mind at all paying for the service if i use the products given, but to charge me for using my own cartridges?! Thats madness....

Hi,
When you sign up with Instant Ink with your new printer you should have received a 2 month free trial. For most customers, the free trial represents many more pages than they will be able to print with the starter cartridges.
Signing up during printer setup also enables us to ship you your first set of full size cartridges right away, so you have them on hand before you need them so you don't have to run to the store. So the service has started as it's watching your ink and will make sure you do not run out. If you wait to enroll in Instant Ink until the starter cartridges run low, you may risk running out of ink, which is what we want to help our customers avoid.
However, you should have received your welcome kit so I'd like to look up your account to make sure there was no issue with sending your ink. I'll send you a private message to ge your details to look up your account.
Thanks,
JillSa
