I've had this printer for a couple of years. From out of nowhere, I am now having an issue printing wirelessly. I've tried the automated diagnostics, none of which corrected the issue. I tried to delete the printer and redo the install, also with no luck. The blue wireless symbol is on, not flashing and my eero router confirms that the printer is connected to wifi but I cannot print from my laptop or phone as I have for the past 2 years. I can connect the USB cable from laptop to printer and that works, but unable to print via wireless. To make matters worse, I try contacting tech support and the only wat to access them is to enter my serial number and model number. When I do that (like I have done 15 times) is says my model number or serial number is invalid!!!!!!! So I cannot even get support - due to an error in their support system. I'm stuck. Any suggestions. Thanks.

Hi @aswi1,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're experiencing a frustrating situation with your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M28-M31 printer. Here are some steps and troubleshooting tips that you can try to resolve the wireless printing issue:
Check the IP Address:
- Print a configuration page from the printer to check its IP address. Ensure it matches the network settings on your devices. This confirms the printer is on the same network as your devices.
Restart All Devices:
- Turn off your printer, computer, and router. Wait about 30 seconds, then turn them back on. This can help resolve any IP conflicts or network errors.
Printer Firmware Update:
- Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer. You can typically find this option in the printer's own menu, or by accessing the printer's web interface using its IP address in a browser.
Reset Printer Network Settings:
- Consider resetting the printer’s network settings back to factory default. This can often solve connectivity issues but means you will need to reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
Check Wireless Signal Interference:
- Ensure that the printer is not too far from the router, and check for any interference from other devices. Walls, large metal objects, and other electronic devices can interfere with wireless signals.
Check for Software Conflicts:
- Ensure that your firewall or antivirus software on your laptop or phone is not blocking the connection to the printer.
HP Smart App:
- If not already using it, download and install the HP Smart app on your laptop and smartphone. This app can help set up the printer on your Wi-Fi network and troubleshoot common issues.
Manual IP Setup:
- Try setting a manual IP address for the printer through the printer’s control panel or web interface. This can help if DHCP issues are causing the connection problem
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
